What Turns Women Off? Lesson #1: Trying Too Hard To Be Funny!

Too Funny! … No, but Really — You’re Trying Too Hard

Pretty much every chick wants a guy who can make them laugh, but some guys cross a line and their humour becomes unattractive and annoying.trying too hard to be funny

A lot of the shy guys who come to me to help them get a girlfriend tell me how they always end up in the friend zone.

Ugh. That sucks, Dude.

One of the common traits a lot of these “friend-zoned” guys share is excess humour.

This is understandable. Sometimes people learn to develop their sense of humour to make up for what they see in themselves as physical or personality flaws.

They think that if they can make people laugh, those people will like them.

In principle, this is actually … true.

Because when we laugh, we release feel-good hormones and associate those feel-good feelings with the source — the Jokester.

But.

Women want men who make them laugh, but we also want a guy who can take some stuff seriously. Because, sometimes, life gets serious, and we need to know we can count on our guy to step up and help us figure out how to get out of this predicament.

You know how when we watch action hero movies, there’s always a Jokester and then there’s the hero?

Question: Who gets the girl?

Exactly.

If the Jokester does get a girl, it’s usually not the Jessica Alba of the movie. (Not that some of y’all wouldn’t be happy getting any somethin’ somethin’.)

Chicks need more than chuckles to get turned on.

So, you’re asking me, “Well, Anna, what if I joke around in a sexual way?”

Okay, dude, like with sexual innuendos, you mean?

That bring us to …

What Turns Women Off Humour Tip #3

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know that to get a girl turned on and to get her to see you in a sexual way, you’ve got to treat her as a sexual being.

But.

If you make all your jokes about sex or sexuality or sexual innuendos, then you’re just creepy guy.

Mix it up.

No matter what kind of humour you use, work on getting comfortable with having some serious, intelligent conversations with women.

We need to see you beyond the clown character.
